Who we are

First Nations Radio is Darwin's only Aboriginal radio station located in the heart of Darwin NT CBD, giving voice to the Larrakia and the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Australia.

Broadcasting not only to the Darwin region but also to more than 26 local Aboriginal communities throughout the Northern Territory and to 2,400 Aboriginal communities across Australia.

We specialise in playing a vast array of Indigenous music, covering all genres including country, pop, indie, dance and hip hop. We regularly interview music artists, sport stars, and community and political leaders to provide news and insights into what’s happening in Darwin and the Northern Territory.

Radio Larrakia commenced broadcasting in 1998 and changed its direction in 2005 to achieve recognition and awards for its services to Aboriginal community broadcasting, governance, and Indigenous employment and leadership training.

Mission Statement - to be the 'voice' of Larrakia and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Chairperson Dr Donna Odegaard AM, General Manager Fox McLachlan, and the board of First Nations Radio have steered the direction and business to ensure it stays focussed on its mission, goals and objectives to create greater Indigenous employment in all areas of broadcasting.
